Out & About

Puddlemire is perfectly situated to make the most of your holiday in Cumbria. From good walks, family activities and days out, to natural wonders, ancient woodlands and beaches, Puddlemire Campsite places you within easy reach of all these and more.
Where to go first?
We are lucky to have The Plough Hotel within a scenic walk from your pitch which offers excellent food & a welcoming atmosphere.
If you want to test your aim, clay pigeon shooting could become your next hobby at Crabtree Clay Shoot (five minutes' drive; check ahead for opening days) or climb the local limestone-paved paths at Hutton Roof Crags (10 minutes’ drive).
Even onsite, there’s often nothing better than relaxing on a hot summer’s day under the shade of our trees, with the occasional dip in the beck to cool off.

Where next?
For those who wish to explore, walks from the site will take you to Newbiggin Craggs where you can explore the expanse of Limestone Pavements which mean the area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Within an easy drive, we have Sizergh Castle, Leighton Moss Bird Reserve, Ingleton Waterfalls Walk, White Scarr Caves & Lake Windermere, together with the scenic town of Kirkby Lonsdale.
For countryside enthusiasts, the Lake District (20 minutes’ drive) and Yorkshire Dales (20 minutes) national parks each have their own draws. In the Lake District, the fells and lakes offer ample opportunities for sailing, rock climbing, or cycling. Meanwhile, in the Yorkshire Dales, you can track down waterfalls and old barns.
Beaches
If you’re longing for a sandy beach, there are long stretches of sand at Silverdale (30 minutes) and Sandside (20 minutes). Head further south and you’ll come to Morecambe (30 minutes), where another bay competes with a 12th-century castle, prison and a stroll-worthy promenade for your attention.
